The Glendale Health Festival is organized in collaboration with the Armenian American Nurses Association (AANA), the City of Glendale and several other community entities. With an estimated 1,000 people participating in the festival each year, the AAMS promotes vital healthcare education and services to the community. The health festival includes free medical screenings and health education for the whole family on conditions such as high blood pressure, cancer, diabetes, heart disease, and more. Breast, cervical and prostate cancer screenings are also offered to patients. This event has earned the AAMS praise and awards from multiple community organizations and politicians.
The Armenian American Medical Society strongly believes in investing in our future healthcare professionals, who will play an important role in improving the health and wellbeing of our community. Each year, the Armenian American Medical Society awards scholarships to qualified Armenian students enrolled in various healthcare education programs in the fields of medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing and allied health.
The Armenian American Medical Society members take an active role in mentoring Armenian medical students and residents. The Armenian American Medical Society mentorship program gives young Armenian medical students, residents and fellows access to a broad spectrum of Armenian physicians and healthcare practitioners who provide valuable guidance and advice throughout their training and as they choose their medical specialty.
As a member of the AAMS, you have the opportunity to give back to your community in a variety of ways. Our members contributed to our homeland – building rural clinics, providing free care to children with diabetes and epilepsy, helping to modernized medical services, and so much more, through life-saving outreach projects.
