Dr. Pelter completed her undergraduate bachelor of science degree in biology with minors in astrobiology and classics from the University of Southern California. She was part of USC’s Resident Honors Program, graduated magna cum laudeand a Renaissance Scholar. She was the recipient of WISE award in biochemistry and one of the select group students to study infectious diseases at Oxford University, UK. She received her MD degree from the University of California, Riverside, CA and was a member of their inaugural class. She completed her Internship and Internal Medicine Residency at Scripps Health, La Jolla, CA. She began her cardiology subspecialty training in 2020 which she will complete in 2023 when she will be seeking to join additional subspecialty training in Advanced Heart Failure and Heart Transplant. She has published several papers and abstracts on cardiovascular diseases. She has presented her work at the American College of Cardiology, Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation (ISHLT), and Society of Cardiovascular Computer Tomography. She is an abstract reviewer for JACC and ISHLT. Dr. Pelter is immediate past Chair of the California chapter of the American College of Cardiology Fellows-in-Training (FIT) committee and a member of the CA ACC board of directors. In December 2021, the California chapter of ACC honored her with Fellow of the Year award. In addition to patient care, Dr. Pelter also teaches UCSD medical students as well as internal medicine residents from Scripps Health. She was also a co-host of the popular 2021 California ACC fellowship “bootcamp” lecture series. She is board certified in internal medicine. Currently, she serves as Chief fellow of cardiovascular diseases and Chief fellow for graduate medical education at PrebysCardiovascular Institute – Scripps Health in La Jolla, CA.
