Dr. Ani Khondkaryan is an ophthalmologist specially trained in the treatment of glaucoma. She practices at the Specialty Eye Care Medical Center, which has four locations: Glendale, Sherman Oaks, Hollywood, and West Hollywood. She treats a wide variety of eye disorders and performs various laser procedures as well as cataract, glaucoma, and oculoplastics surgeries. She completed her undergraduate degree at Stanford University with a major in Biological Sciences and minor in Economics and graduated with distinction. While at Stanford, she was involved in research in molecular genomics and was recognized for excellence in the department of biology. Afterwards, Dr. Khondkaryan attended Harvard Medical School, which is recognized as the best medical school in the U.S.A. There, she won the prestigious Prusky Scholarship, as well as a number of other scholarships and honors. She was involved in ophthalmologic research centering on limbal stem cells. After medical school, Dr. Khondkaryan returned to Los Angeles for residency training at USC’s Doheny Eye Institute, recognized as one of the top ten eye centers in the United States. She was one of only four residents throughout the U.S.A. to be invited to speak at the American Academy of Ophthalmology at a special Grand Rounds presentation. As a resident and fellow at Doheny, she was involved in research on in vitreo-retinal (in particular age-related macular degeneration diagnosis and treatment), glaucoma (specifically treatment modalities for open and closed angle glaucoma), and epidemiological (as part the Los Angeles Latino Eye Study) research and was invited to present findings at the annual meetings of the Association for Vision and Research in Ophthalmology. Dr. Khondkaryan is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Glaucoma Society, and the Armenian American Medical Society.
