Welcome fellow Armenian students to the Armenian American Medical Society Research Program. We are under a branch of the mentorship subdivision. We are pleased to announce that over the last several years we have formalized our research division. More than four decades ago, when AAMS was founded, it was the dream of the founders for the society, to not only engage active healthcare providers from our community by bringing numerous services to the community but also fostering growth in the next generation.

Research stands as pivotal cornerstone to not only the future of medicine but also as part of every competitive applicant’s skill set and application piece. Feedback from many students over the years has shown that access to research is quite challenging. Serving as a nonprofit we are here to bridge that gap and foster the skill of starting research projects. 

Under the guidance of Dr. Sarmen Sarkissian we have developed an introductory system to help research become a founding principal for our students in their academic journey. We have developed a system that helps students launch their own research projects. While research can seem very complicated, it falls across a wide spectrum, and we help students overcomes the first barrier and get started.

Our research projects are not patient data driven as we are not a healthcare provider organization, but we do have people who may take you on for a formal project. We focus on medical education, literature review, etc. We have a strong emphasis on healthcare education and the needs of our premed students. There is a growing need for publications and research that focus on pre-medical students as well as healthcare education, and are one of the few organizations who work in this niche.

We have established a network of various conferences that we have had success in presenting and we work with students to identify conferences they want to attend and we work on helping present there.  For a list of some of these conferences see the appendix.
