Dr. Davtyan is a general surgeon, bariatric surgeon and surgical oncologist in private practice, with offices in Glendale and Beverly Hills. Dr. Davtyan received his MD degree from UCLA School of Medicine. He did his surgical residency at University of Texas Houston, MD Anderson Cancer Center and Hermann Hospital, and a 3-year Surgical Oncology fellowship at UCLA and John Wayne Cancer Institute.
Dr. Davtyan is very well known to the Armenian Community through his charitable work, having served for many years as the president of the AAMSC as well as the vice president of the All Armenia Fund (Hamahaykakan hymnadram). As a surgeon, Dr. Davtyan has always been an innovator, bringing the newest revolutionary treatments to his patients, while never compromising their safety. He participated in the development of sentinel lymph node biopsy technique, which has become the standard of care in surgical treatments of many cancers; he participated in the development of the melanoma vaccine and other immune therapies for cancer, as well as cryoablation and radiofrequency ablation of primary and metastatic tumors of the liver. In the field of weight loss surgery, Dr. Davtyan was one of the first to introduce the LapBand surgery in Los Angeles. Dr. Davtyan performed the first LapBand in an outpatient surgery setting in California, and more recently, he was again one of the pioneers that introduced the intra-gastric balloons for the treatment of obesity in Los Angeles. Dr. Davtyan is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and a Fellow of the International College of Surgeons (FICS). Dr. Davtyan is Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Obesity Medicine.
